Ambassador’s Welcome Reception
The RalRosa Foundation, along with several cohosts from the
Jamaican Diaspora, hosted a Meet and Greet welcome
reception on October 1, for His Excellency Major General
(Retd.) Antony Anderson, the newly appointed fourteenth
Jamaican Ambassador to the United States.
The event brought out a diverse group of dynamic
professionals from the Washington DC area, eager to warmly
shake hands, meaningfully dialogue and forge new
partnerships with the Ambassador.
Held on the outdoor patio of TRF office headquarters,
overlooking the C&O canal in Georgetown, the weather was
tropical as the select invited guests mingled and networked
while sipping on signature cocktails, nibbling on tasty bites and
savoring sweet dessert treats.
Ambassador Anderson, whose career has been rooted in
security and defense, and who prior to this appointment
served as Commissioner of Police of Jamaica’s Constabulary,
gave a very motivating speech about the potential that lies
ahead for Jamaica. He shared examples of the great
investment opportunities to explore and touted developing
medical tourism as a worthwhile economic driver for the
country.
The meet and greet was a resounding success and other key
Jamaican dignitaries were spotted in the crowd, including The
Hon. Christopher Tufton, Jamaican Minister of Health, and Mr.
Nigel Clarke, former finance minister of Jamaica who is now in
Washington serving as the Deputy Managing Director for the
International Monetary Fund.
Ambassador Anderson expressed his deep appreciation for the
warm welcome and pledged to further strengthen the ties and
long-standing relationship between Jamaica and the United
States as he fulfills his diplomatic duties.
